Current state of research and teaching activities
I'm currently involved in a number of research projects on health care financing and universal health coverage in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). The research concerns: (1) health financing and universal health coverage (UHC) with particular focus on the purchasing function of healthcare financing; (2) the governance of healthcare financing, using organisational and institutional analysis on how different groups of actors respond to the implementation of health care financing policies; (3) extrinsic incentives and intrinsic motivation for healthcare workers; and (4) the use of discrete choice experiment (DCE) in LMIC settings as a method to understand the needs, preferences and values of people in health systems to enable their opinions to be reflected in policy discussions.

I lecture in both graduate and undergraduate courses, including Health Economics, Global Health Policy, Introduction to Statistics, and Introduction to Microeconomics, and facilitate the Seminar on Economics and Global Health Issues.
